SCA Courses

Whether you are a barista, café owner, or coffee enthusiast you can now gain an internationally recognised Speciality Coffee Association (SCA) qualification here in Guernsey.

Our programs are designed to build practical skills, confidence, and aid career progression in the specialty coffee industry.

Training combines an approved curriculum with hands-on experience. We are limiting the courses to a maximum of 4 people to ensure you get sufficient time to improve your practical skills. SCA provide a wide range of courses, however we are initially focusing on 3 courses aimed at baristas and people who want to gain an understanding of where coffee comes from and how to make Espresso based drinks using an Espresso Machine.

I found this course very useful, and great to really have a sound understanding of the core skills needed as a barista including learning about roast profiles, milk texturing and grind settings. I also found this course so so interesting when covering the species of coffee plants and the many different drying processes. Chi was very kind and obviously passionate about training new baristas which was very comforting.

Full Disclosure, I work for Bean14, but I did the course and this is my honest feedback.
Fantastic course — highly recommended!
I used to work in a café, but came away with a much better understanding of where coffee comes from and the journey from farm to cup. The hands-on training was excellent, and I now know how to adjust an espresso machine to consistently make great coffee. I also learned how to texture and foam milk properly, which has made a huge difference to the quality of my drinks.
Chi, the teacher, was really engaging with plenty of practical experience and expert guidance throughout. Great fun and incredibly useful! ☕👏
